In So Many Words | When You Wake

In So Many Words

I'm simply a 24-year-old girl who thinks too much, overanalyzes life, and, most importantly, writes to get it all out.

When You Wake

Can you feel my warmth
when the blanket isn’t quite cutting it,
and your feet are freezing underneath?

When nights are painfully long,
paved with insomniac fears?

Do you hear my voice
cutting through the terrors
that plague your tired mind?

Don’t scream, my love,
don’t fear, I’m here

to make sure you sleep through
the endless night. Did you know I’ll be there
when you wake?

I’ll see you through
‘til pink dawn peeks through the blinds,

spilling to the cold wood floor,
mixing with old shades
from all the dawns before.

Love, you know I’ll always be there
when you wake,

no matter how long
the night may seem.
No matter what.
