In So Many Words

I.
Surprises are nice,
but there are some
that aren’t so pleasant,
though I paint a smile
in contrast to
your genuine grin. 

II.
Change is on the horizon,
and that is something
that may as well
be peeling the skin
from your bones.

III.
You hurt,
and I, in turn,
feel the deepest sorrow,
but your dramatics
are excessive.
